Rainbow Trout Watercolor Painting

Rainbow Trout

Second Place Award: 2008 Wolfeboro Fine Art Festival
First Place Award: 2007 Summer Breeze Art Festival
Best of Show Award: 2007 White Mountain Arts Festival
Third Place Award: 2007 Plymouth Fall Arts Festival

This is one of three trout paintings and also one of the largest pieces I've created so far. Trying paintings of this size was a real test of my skills and I'm very happy the judges at several festivals honored me with awards for my efforts. Looks like I may have to turn my paintbrush to large paintings again for next year!

Horses Watercolor Painting

Finding the Sweet Spot

First Place Award: 2006 White Mountain Arts Festival

This painting was created from photos I took several years ago and it took me a while to work up the courage to attempt this painting and accurately capture all the angles, colors and lighting. And yes ... the grass took a long time to paint! Horses are incredibly challenging to draw but remain one of my favorite animal subjects to paint. I hope to have some new horse paintings to show you during the 2008 season.

Owl Watercolor Painting

An Apple A Day

First Place Award: 2006 Summer Breeze Arts Festival

Who doesn't love an owl? Or an old apple tree for that matter! The owl in this painting is a Barred owl, one of the largest owl species found in our woods here. Receiving an award for this painting was especially nice because the judge is a local art instructor and an exceptional watercolor artist in her own right. It was thrilling to have my artwork meet her standards with this piece.
